Coaching for young adults, usually from the late teens through the late twenties, who are working out how to run their own lives. It suits a young person who feels stuck between where they are and where they thought they would be by now, or who is doing what everyone expects and is not sure it is what they want. We talk about school, work and what comes next, money and independence, motivation and follow-through, friendships and relationships, living at home or moving out, confidence, and the everyday skills of running your own week — without lectures, and one thing at a time.
Young adults can come on their own, and often do. Parents frequently make the first call, and we are clear with everyone from the start about what stays private: what a young person says in their session stays there. Sessions are one to one, fifty-five minutes, by video from anywhere in the world, or at your home in Santa Cruz County and the Bay Area. By video, a single session is $130, or take a block of four ($495), eight ($935) or twelve ($1,325) — the longer the block, the less each session costs, down to $110. At your home it is $180 a session, with blocks from $695. If the whole family needs to be part of it, Parent & Child coaching may be the better fit, and we will say so.

How we approach it
Pick one thing.
We choose the one thing to work on, properly, not several things briefly.
Run it out loud.
We rehearse the real conversation or talk in the room before you have it.
Look at how it went.
After you try something, we look at what actually happened, not what you feared.
The techniques, by name.
- Two Plans, One Page
- the plan you told people about and the one you're living
- Who Decides
- working out which decisions are yours
- The Next Step
- one clear step, small enough to take this week

Questions about young adult coaching
Can a parent make the first call?
Yes. Parents often make the first call, and that is fine. From the first conversation, we are clear with everyone about what stays private.
What stays private?
What a young person says in their own session stays there. If a parent is paying or involved in scheduling, that does not change what is shared — only the young person decides what gets passed along, if anything.
What if my adult child does not want to do this?
It works best when they are willing, even reluctantly. If they are not willing at all, Parent & Child coaching — which starts with the parent — may be a better first step.
How is this different from Parent & Child coaching?
Parent & Child coaching is for a parent and child working together, with sessions for both. Young adult coaching is one to one with the young adult themselves — a parent can make the first call, but the ongoing work is theirs.
